Welcome
to VioletIris Paint, home of original artistic creations.
Also home to inane rambling,
strange art, and other weird stuff.
As you might expect, this
is a gallery page. Feel free to peruse the images, but please
also remember that it's all my stuff, and hotlinking, copying,
printing, etc, is all illegal and I'll clean out your pockets
if I catch wind of your shenanigans. Oh, shenanigans. How I do
love to spell you.
Of course, above disclaimer
aside, there are of course images of characters and things which
do not belong to me, and they should be credited to their original
owner. These things include commission work I do (including logos),
fanart, and of course, portraits (your face does not become my
property if I draw you).
If you're interested in
commissioning me, I encourage you to contact me and we can discuss
prices. My work is affordable and, as long as we're not in the
middle of finals week, generally timely. Drop me a line for more
information.
.....shenanigans!
TESTIMONIALS
"I've commissioned
[JML] twice now, and each time I am blown away by each piece.
Both of my commissions were very loose on given detail, just that
they had two of my characters. The rest of the details I had left
up for [JML]'s choice. The commissions were done in relatively
good time, and the fact this artist is willing to ask the client
if there should be anything fixed with lineart before finishing
the work really makes me happy. I've been satisfied everytime
I've worked with [JML], and will likely ask for another commission
in the future." --AM,

"O_O;;;;;;;;;;; I
LOVE YOU. Love you love you love you. They're so PRETTY and PERFECT
and AUGH! :D! And yes, don't worry, they're very in-character.
xDDD Amazingly so. AHHHHHHHH! Spazzing much to myself. Spazzing.
AHHHH! Best thing EVER you rock thank you SO MUCH! I shall take
it and hug it and squeeze it evermore. AHHH! <3" --KD,

"I've been comissioning
Joey's skills since 2000 and have always been impressed with the
resulting attention to detail and ability to make even my most
ridiculous sounding request into a good looking reality! After
all, I DID demand an armadillo and cheese and blue cat one time.
AND IT WAS DELIVERED." --RM, 2005
FAQ
Q. What medium(s)
do you use?
A. I generally do all my
work in digital medium to cut down (read: eradicate) supplies
cost. I use a 4x6 Wacom Graphire Tablet, Corel Painter 8 for drawing,
and JASC Paint Shop Pro 9 for text and finishing. I may be known
to sketch out a lot of my more complex pieces on paper first.
I have done large acryllic murals in the past, and know my way
around a box of crayons.
Q. What is anime?
A. Anime is a style of
cartooning from Japan. My style is almost exclusively of an anime
breed, but if that's not what you're looking for, I'm fairly flexible.
Q. Will you draw
my pet/me/character/fursona?
A. If you're talking about
a commission, of course I will! If you're talking about an art
trade, it's possible. If you're talking about a request, well...
I'm a busy busy bee, and a lot of times (most of the time) I don't
have the time for request art. But, I guess it'd never hurt to
ask.
Q. What are your
rates?
A. My pricing tends to
change depending on how much I need money at the time. Recently
I've found I make more money if I state cheaper prices, rather
than no money at all when I state higher ones. At the time of
this writing, my rates for a full color images with two characters
and a background runs about $30. Cut out a character, colors,
background, and the price goes down.
Q. I want to commission
you. What do I do?
A. You should email me
with an idea of what you're looking for and how much you want
to spend. We can negotiate then (and truth be told, I'm fairly
easy). Have an idea of what kind of image you want -- character
focal, environment focal, mood focal, etc -- and maybe an idea
of other images you've seen (either that I've done or other people
have done) so I can make your image as close to what you're imagining
as I can.
Q. Is there anything
you won't draw?
A. I won't take money for
fanart (i.e. you cannot pay me to draw other people's characters
without their consent) or pictures of real people doing bizarre
(read: inappropriate) things due to copyright and other laws.
Other than that, it's pretty much anything goes.
Q. The images on
this site are sort of fuzzy. Will my commission be fuzzy? I want
to print it.
A. Images on this site
have been rescaled to prevent theft. Your commission will be done
at a much higher resolution. If you intend to print any larger
than a standard 8.5x11" sheet of paper, let me know before
I begin your commission so I can do it at a suitable resolution.
Your commission will also be void of a watermark.
